My Earth Day Recycling Project

So my oldest DD was getting ready for school yesterday and I noticed that her tennis shoes were very ratty looking. The shoe laces were unraveling and they were super dirty. So we had a conversation that went something like this.
Me: Your shoes are in pretty bad shape, I think maybe it is time for a new pair.
DD: But mom these make me run fast and they fit fine.
Me: (shocked) You don't want to go shopping for new shoes?
DD: No, I just like these.
I tried them on her and sure enough they fit just fine.
So I decided today to revamp our old shoes instead of sending them to a landfill. So a little ribbon, some magic shoe lace ends and a Mr. Clean Magic Eracer and Voila, New er um revamped shoes!

My kids wear uniforms to school and our shoes are supposed to be all white or as close to uniform colors as possible. So this is what I came up with! Love them and I made real shoe lace ends!!!
Cant wait for DD to wear them tomorrow. I think I will make her a red pair too.....

Spring Cleaning Gone Crazy!

Okay, So I am working on deep cleaning/reorganizing of my entire house. Over the last couple months I have been helping my brother do a full make-over of his new house (painting every room), and thus I have let my own house go a bit. So It seems a bit out of control, so in an effort to get it under control I'm going to make a Big Ole Mess!!! I am going thru one room at a time and reorganizing. I started in the kitchen and I decided I hate my pantry. Well, what I use for a pantry.
We have these great large cabinets in our kitchen that we use for pantry and appliance storage. People tell me all the time how much they envy these large cabinets. Well let me tell you, they are great, but not for a pantry. The upper half I was using for pantry was a mess, and I had just cleaned it like 3 days ago. It is so deep stuff gets lost and I hate it. I have an actual pantry in my laundry room just off the kitchen that I just use for a storage space. So I decided to clear it out and use it for a pantry.
Well, that created this:

A big mess all over my kitchen! And Hours of work!!!
Then a frenzy to Hobby Lobby for some cute glass canisters that I thought were on sale 1/2 price according to the ad. Well, Miss Brooklyn and I headed out armed to buy canisters, loaded our cart with 10 of them. as well as a few 25% off bandanas, some 1/2 price ribbon, and one cut of full price lace (to use our 40% off coupon on!).
We get to the front ready to pay, excited about our new organized pantry and the lady said these weren't included in the sale b/c they are considered craft glass. Bummer. So I put them back to wait patiently for a sale. But I am not known as a patient person, so my Mom and I decided it would be a great idea to print off 10 - 40% off coupons and take my whole family to buy the canisters. So my willing participants, 1 daughter, 2 grandmothers, 1 mom, 1 brother, 1 nephew and me, head out to HL with my faithful grandpa as chauffer! So we go thru the lines 2 times, one canister per person per trip and we got them all, well all but 2 because at that point they had sold 2 of the medium size ones I wanted. But I was thrilled!!! So This afternoon I spent the entire time reorganizing my new pantry!!!
And I am soooo Proud!
Before:

After:

See how nice the canisters look!!! I just need 2-3 more!

I even put shelf liner on the floor! Crazy, I know!

I love it!!! I can see and find everything!

The shocking thing was, how many cans and boxes of expired food I had. I threw away a ton of food!

This is the trash waiting for hubby to take it out!!!
But My kitchen was restored to it's previous clean state!

Pillowcase Dress Craze!

So I am on a craze of pillowcase dresses! These are some of my hottest sellers at summer craft shows. So my goal is to have a whole rack of them for the summer shows. This year I am offering them off the rack up to a size 7. I made a whole bundle of them this weekend and I have probably 50 more already cut out and ready to sew!!! I will get some pictures of all the other ones I made and get it posted. I have made some out of a ton of fabrics. They are such great dresses because they are so versatile. I love them when it is really hot outside because my little girls still look so cute and ladylike, but they aren't burning up. And then in the fall/winter I throw a long sleeved shirt and leggings under it and still cute! Not to mention the sizing works out so that they can generally wear them for 2 years!!!

My newest addiction

Okay, so this is my newest addiciton. My youngest daughter doesn't have bangs but she loves to wear her hair down. When she does it is everywhere and mostly in her face, which I hate. These little headbands are the perfect answer. My older daughter loves them too b/c they are comfy, cute and stay in place thanks to the non slip grip on the back side.
The best part, they are cheap! $2 each or 3 for $5!
This is just a few of about 65 I have made and I'm sitting down tonight to cut more!!!

Can Lightening Strike Twice!!

Wow, 2 posts in one day! I am just blogging up a storm today huh!
I have been so excited about my cute little easter shirt that I had to add it here!
I know these are not the greatest pics, another thing I could learn from Karen. I usually have most of my photos done by a friend Sheila who is a great photographer and an even better friend! But this was impromptu so I had to make due! Anyhow, this is what my girls are wearing to all the fun easter egg hunts we are going on and probably will change into after church on Sunday!

Isn't my model just a doll! I may make a little pair of cotton capris with a ruffle instead of the denim ones. It might make it just a bit more dressy....
Or a skirt with little bloomies under it! Stay tuned for an update on bloomies!

Back in the Saddle

Okay, so I haven't done so well at keeping my blog updated. One post and that was it! Sad huh! I envy my friend Karen (http://www.paperdolldesignsblog.blogspot.com/) who keeps her blog so up to date and pretty. I am aspiring to be like her!

So here are some pictures of some of my new spring line!

You can check it all out on http://www.lizzyroseboutique.etsy.com/

I am still working on some new things!
